I survived my first flat tire today! I drive quite a bit each day...to and from school on busy highways. Most days I drive past cars stranded on the side of the road and wonder..."What would I do if that happened to me!" Well...it happened to me today. I was driving home from school and heard a loud noise...I couldn't figure out what it was. I thought maybe it was the big truck next to me. My car was driving fine...so I didn't think it was my tire. Then about 10 seconds later, I felt it. My tire blew out, and I was swerving across the road. Thankfully, I was able to pull off to the side of the road without losing control.

Then came to tricky part... What do I do? I tried calling Matt, but figured he couldn't answer his phone. He's now on his surgery rotation and can't take many calls in the middle of the operating room. Then I called my mom...and thought about crying. Then I called the number on the back of the driver's license. It was busy. I'm sure there are other people I could have called...but it's not like Abilene. You hate to ask someone to drive an hour to help you change your tire. So then I just sat there and prayed that somebody would take pity on my poor demolished tire, and help me change a flat. I don't have much confidence in my tire-changing abilities. I could probably do it...but I was already flustered and I was on the side of a busy highway at 4:45 in Houston, TX...not fun! Thankfully a man drove by and was nice enough to change my tire. Thank you...whoever you are!! You saved my day! And I'm especially thankful that he didn't throw me into the back of his car and kidnap me...I live in Houston and have heard too many stories like that.

So now I have a tiny tire on my little red car...but I'm home and safe and so thankful God took care of me today.

JENNA! Please call whenever you are in need. That has happened to me on my way to work. You know how we CAN'T be late. This happened when Michael still lived here and I had to wake him up, wait for him to come, and switch cars while he fixed my car. I still was late. I was surprized to find that the Friendswood Police came to my rescue as well as Michael. I was like you, "hmm what is that funny sound?! I guess it is someone else." I too went about my driving business for about 5-10 seconds. It is no fun to feel helpless.
And then there is the time my car ran out of gas on the way to work...

Thank you Leah and Heather for your sweet comments... I actually did almost call you, but I wasn't stuck very long before someone came to my rescue.

And mom, I can't wait for my tire-changing lesson... I think I've had a lesson before. But I guess I need a refresher!

Thanks Josh for the kind words...And I'll be sure to pass on that information to Matt. He's been trying to persuade me to let him practice his stitching on me... I won't let him, so I'm sure he'd love to have another volunteer...

i am still driving on my spare from my blowout on the way to girls' trip...you should just have sara with you at all times...for some reason, i think we all felt much safer just having here there with us, although there was no way i was going to let my pregnant friend change my tire!

i can't imagine what i would do if i was alone and that happened...praise the Lord for guardian angels! i am so glad you're safe...

Gracious sakes....I don't know how to change a tire either but I do know how to look pitiful. Instead of teaching you to change a tire I am going to give "look pitiful" lessons. Gordon has tried to teach me a million times how to change a tire and I stand there, as I so often do, with that look like I am paying attention but I am really wondering what is on sale at SteinMart. I am glad you are ok.....You know where to kick men don't you? Don't hold back. I did send you the email on serial killers didn't I? Don't trust anyone. You hold the tire club or whatever it is like you could deck 'em one. Ok, now there I feel better. As far as Matt needing a practice patient.....you know I need my ear fixed and I would love a facelift! I LOVE YOU BOTH BUNCHES.......Aunt Lynn
