It's almost here! Just two more days until the little angels walk through my door. I haven't been very consistent this summer with my blogging. I think I'll do better when school starts. I was gone so much this summer, and many times I would sit down to type something...and not want to put forth the effort...so I just didn't.

Matt and I had a great summer. He had the month of July off and spent 3 of those weeks in Guatemala going to language school with his dad. I spent those weeks in several different places... Abilene, working in my classroom, going to staff development days, Dallas (visiting my girls and seeing my cute niece) and a trip to New Mexico. When Matt got back we went to Estes Park, Colorado and had a great time with his family... Then Matt started school and I went to the beach with my family. I had the best of both worlds this summer...mountains and beaches!

Now it's time to think about school again. I'm sad to be giving up my summer, but excited about the new kids that will be coming to 2nd grade. Say a prayer for my new babies this Wednesday. I'll have one or two that don't speak any English...so say a prayer for me too. Kate, I might be calling you to brush up on a few Japanes phrases. I'm serious. All I remember is to say "moshi moshi" when you answer the phone. I'll let you know how my first week goes.

Last year is a blur... I do remember that I was praying my way through each minute of the day... especially the first few weeks. I was hoping I wouldn't lose any kids or run out of activities to do...or oversleep. Those of you who know me well, know that my sleep habits can be very entertaining. When school starts I have nightmares that I'll oversleep. So several times a week, I'll wake up in the middle of the night and start getting ready for school...thinking that it's time to get up. I'll turn on the shower and Matt will have to yell at me to go back to bed. Or I'll wake up and find all of the lights have been turned on. One night I went into the kitchen and got a handful of Golden Grahams thinking it was time to eat breakfast. I realized this the next morning when I found a small pile of cereal on my nightstand. I'm sure Matt, Jordan (my sister) and Kate (my college roommate) could tell you many more stories about my sleep habits...

Jenna,
I miss those midnight madness moments with you. I never knew what to expect. I went up to Gardner Saturday to see my cousin's dorm room and had all kinds of memories about our freshman year. Good luck as you start this year. I wish I could be a fly in your class...I know you're an excellent teacher! Hang in there with the non-English speakers. Try this one, "Konichiwa, watashewa Mrs. Cope des." My dad will have to correct me if I'm wrong. Yesterday was our first day, and it went pretty well. It feels so much better to be starting a 2nd year after having done it once. This comment is getting too long now, but I miss talking to you in person! Would Matt and Brandon mind if we were roommates again? Love you,
Kate
