Oh Happy Day!

I can't believe it...the kids are gone...the school is quiet...and I'M FINISHED WITH MY FIRST YEAR OF TEACHING! Can you hear the excitement in my typing? Today was a short day...but a fun day. The kids signed yearbooks, said their heartfelt goodbyes and also brought little presents for their teachers. I think I wrote, "Have a great summer!" at least a hundred times on yearbooks.

I always love watching kids give someone a present. They are sooo proud of the present they bought and get the biggest grin on their face as you're opening it...It's so sweet to watch. Some of my presents included gift cards (always a favorite!), teacher pins (like the ABC ones), a "tranquility fountain", candles, jewelry, and flowers. But let me just say that I raked in the chocolate...godiva, dove, hershey...you name it. The kids knew I loved chocolate. I might not tell my class that next year...it could save me five pounds... What about you other teachers out there? Any other exciting end-of-the-year presents?

Another of my favorite presents was a rubber-band bracelet. All of the kids are wearing these colored bracelets...like the Lance Armstrong ones...that say different messages on them. Well this little girl got a green rubber band and wrote the words, "I love Mrs. Cope" on it. I thought that was pretty cute...

I'm going to be an aunt any day now! We're just waiting... Hollie is dilated, effaced and having contractions. She's not in the hospital yet, but it could be any day now. We're just waiting for the call. I can't wait to see Riley Lyn Reese... Isn't that a precious name! I'll let you know when it happens...I still can't believe my brother will be a dad. Let's all say a prayer that he doesn't pass out in the hospital room...
